The second year of the Student Athletes With Academic Goals program (SWAG) began on February 2, 2025. 30 Niagara Falls High School junior and senior student athletes joined us for an 8-week immersive program exposing them to the world of healthcare and cultivating essential skills. They learned about careers in sports medicine, effective communication, the high school to college athletic transition, time management, and mental health regulation strategies. Through these sessions, SWAG students gained valuable insight into healthcare careers and developed confidence, resilience, and organizational skills for their future academic endeavors.
On March 28th, the SWAG students graduated from the program with a mini ceremony celebrating their growth and achievements. They received water bottles, sports “swag”, and personalized sweatshirts to remember a time well spent.
We extend gracious thanks to our guest speaker, Rita Anderson, for her fantastic mental health workshop she put together for the students!
As the program comes to a close, we can't wait to see how the SWAG students take the knowledge, skills, and confidence they've gained and use them to excel in both their academic and athletic futures!
