YLT and PATCH Orientation Extravaganza

Two key pipeline programs at Erie Niagara AHEC held orientation this past August! Our Providers and Teens Communicating for Health (PATCH) and Youth Leadership Team (YLT) programs, both generously funded by HOPE Buffalo, met for team building, skill development workshops, and program training, kicking off the start to a great year.

In the PATCH Program, Teen Educators provide workshops to peers and healthcare providers spreading awareness of teen healthcare rights. On the YLT, members serve as a youth advisory board for HOPE Buffalo initiatives, providing their insights to various health-focused community organizations. Both programs educate participants on various health topics such as mental and sexual health, social determinants of health, and health literacy, preparing students to be peer educators and advocates. In addition, students are exposed to a variety of health careers via workshops, guest speaker presentations, and community events.

We look forward to seeing what our amazing pipeline students achieve this program year!
