Erie Niagara AHEC commenced its annual Interprofessional Case Study Competition (ICSC) on Monday, February 6th, 2023. AHEC Scholars students were divided into 3 teams consisting of students from various areas of study. This year’s selected case study centered on a 16-year-old girl with exercise-induced anaphylaxis (EIA). From early February to early March, teams worked to develop a patient-centered care plan, making sure to incorporate considerations of the social determinants of health. During this time, teams met to delegate responsibilities, develop presentation slides, and record their videos for judging.
This year, our community judges consisted of two professors from the University at Buffalo, a representative from the University's Regional Institute, and a representative from Erie Niagara AHEC. Judges reviewed each group's submissions, providing scores and feedback, which were used to determine our first, second, and third place winners.
Erie Niagara AHEC hosted an ICSC Luncheon on Sunday, March 12th to celebrate the participants’ hard work. During the luncheon, we enjoyed watching each team’s video submissions and reading some of the wonderful feedback from our judges. Afterwards, we announced our first, second, and third place winners, who were awarded by our Executive Director, Danise Wilson. Congratulations to this year’s ICSC winners:
First Place – Aashika, Annamarie, and Rylee
Second Place – Amarachi, Nicole, and Paul
Third Place - Amanda, Berthliz, Sakiba, and Sarah
We had a wonderful time seeing our Scholars' efforts pay off as they learned about the importance of working with other health professionals to provide optimal patient care!
Check out our Scholars!
