The Career Pathways Training (CPT) Program, funded through New York State, provides no-cost education and training that focuses on career advancement and recruitment to create a reliable workforce pipeline to address workforce shortages throughout the state. The CPT Program targets high-demand shortage areas, reduces barriers to career advancement, and supports marginalized and underrepresented communities to enter and advance in the health workforce.
Erie Niagara AHEC was selected to be a part of this program by Finger Lakes Performing Provider System (FLPPS), a Workforce Investment Organization responsible for the implementation of the CPT Program in Central and Western New York. Erie Niagara AHEC employs two Program Specialists, Abbey Scherer and Troi Greene, who work as case managers for the CPT Program. Abbey and Troi are responsible for outreach, recruitment, the application process, and assisting students throughout their academic program.
So far, the CPT program has accepted over 1,500 students throughout New York State and has partnered with nearly 40 educational institutions in Western and Central New York. This allows for enrollees to select from13 eligible job titles that are in demand such as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Associate Registered Nurse (RN, Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN)), Master of Social Work (MSW), and more.
CPT participants are provided with free tutoring services through our two contracted partners, tutor.com and Chitani Tutoring, LLC, as well as any required scrubs or supplies needed for their programs. We also recently announced that all students have access to a Jobspeaker account, which is a platform that will assist students in writing their resumes and applying to jobs with our approved service commitment sites.
