About the Event

David Herzberg, Ph.D. is a professor of history at the University at Buffalo who specializes in psychoactive parmaceuticals.  His area of study is drug commerce, drug use, and drug policy in American racial capitalism.  His books include White Market Drugs:  Big Pharma and the Hidden History of Addiction in America, and Happy Pills in America:  from Miltown to Prozac.  He is also co-editor of Social History of Alcohol and Drugs:  An Interdisciplinary Journal.  Dr. Herzberg is currently working on a book about the politics of whiteness and the history of opioids in the U.S.A.
