The Emerging Health Scholars Program
Accepting Applications Now!
Deadline Extended to October 31, 2018
The goal of the Emerging Health Scholars Program (EHSP) is to increase student interest and intent to enter into health professions studies and careers. This will be achieved through mentoring, tutoring, and several health career exposure activities and presentations. EHSP will include components of Erie Niagara AHEC’s other pipeline programs, including the Public Health Summer Camp and the DNA Learning Center Field Trip. Through EHSP, students will be offered the opportunity to participate in college tours, college prep classes, SAT/PSAT prep classes, and earn college credit with university level courses.
We currently plan to meet a minimum of twice per month after school for about two hours. During these meetings you will build relationships with other students, participate in career exposure activities (such as presentations from professionals in health careers and field trips), work on a career pathways project, and be linked with subject specific tutors (based on need). We will also offer various field trips including one to the DNA Learning Center in Long Island and at least two college tours.
Stay tuned and check back in for more information in the coming weeks!
